The Bible says that those who keep God’s law in all ages will be blessed as the righteous, and that those who violate God’s law will be condemned for rebellion. The reason the Israelites were taken captive to Babylon was the result of not keeping God’s law.

“[W]e have not obeyed the LORD our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. All Israel has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you.
