The 1678th Worldwide Blood Drive to 'Give Life Through the Love of the Passover' in Waverley, Johannesburg, held by The World Mission Society Church of God. The drive has been held in partnership with the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) and Ward 74 Councillor Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku.
On Youth Day, June 16, the Church of God volunteers, their families and neighbours gathered for the blood drive. The Waverley Sports Club donated its facility for the blood drive, and a total of 59 donors donated blood, including the Ward Councillor and Member of Parliament Bridget Masango.
The organisation says it was an effort to provide blood products to numerous patients in need, including terminally ill women who had complications at childbirth, road accidents, scheduled operations, pediatric cases, etc.
The event, carried out during Worldwide Blood Donor Month, also aligned with the SANBS' National Blood Donor Month (NBMD) 2025 campaign that celebrates the life-changing impact of blood donors and the powerful message of community, compassion and solidarity that underpins every donation, says World Mission Society Church of God.
The World Mission Society Church of God concludes that the blood drive is a global event that has been actively taking place not only in South Africa but also around the world for twenty years.
